A desire for expression, intervene!
“Fashion passes, style remains.”
Today, this famous quote by Yves Saint-Laurent deserves to be adjusted. Fashion passes, of course, but the environmental and social impacts it causes are long-lasting.
Fashion is a field that advances every day.
Each season, the trends change. Glitter, feathers, pastel, or fluorescent colors, fashion continues to evolve. Fueling our devouring desire for novelty, the major international ready-to-wear brands offer irresistible pieces every day at unbeatable prices. This phenomenon has a name: “fast-fashion.”
The amount of material, substance, color, etc. can be defined as an art. It is for our senses, our emotions, and our intellect. It inspires us, creates an atmosphere, and can play on our state of mind. Is it the secret of its importance?
We live in a world that places a lot of credit on appearance, and we often tend to judge a person by his looks, his pace. It is the reason why we attach great importance to clothing to adornment.
It is not a new phenomenon, purely contemporary. We have always been obsessed with the look of others and our way of dressing. And that it meets man’s eternal need to please and have fun.
Does fashion matter in the lives of young people?
Fashion is something that influences all spheres of human life. It’s not only the way of dressing but also the way of behaving, spending free time or cleaning up.
Fashion is vital in the lives of young people. Nobody wants to be completely old-fashioned. Of course, that doesn’t mean that you have to dress at Prada or Versace, but that everyone has their style with which they feel good.
Fashion should be a game – it’s not true that everyone has to put on a red shirt because it’s fashionable. It’s just a proposition, a suggestion.
People have to find something for themselves without any obligation. This “something” can be anything, as long as it suits them well. Going with fashion can be fun: watching fashion magazines, shopping with a friend, looking for, and trying on clothes – its fun.
Through fashion, young people feel attractive. It’s essential in their lives because they always want to please others.
Why is fashion so important?
The garment acts almost like a second skin. It is a part of ourselves.
It’s naked that the child is born, and it’s the garment that immerses him in humanity.
Thus, growing up, the body becomes fashionable, and an object of desire. Because fashion refers to the whimsical, the symbolic, the imaginary, and that fashion is consumed by the image.
If the garment meets a pragmatic need (warmth, comfort, protection) in fashion, it immerses us in dreamlike dreams.
But fashion does not only consist of expressing our mood, but it also reveals who we are, through our choices and our clothing habits.
It is the tacit expression of our identity that is reflected in the reaction, good or bad, of the eyes of others. Clothing, therefore, marks social anticipation: a dress as one would like to be. But clothing is also a source of pride that leads us into a quest for authenticity.
Fashion, a dynamic element!
Fashion is a reflection of an era, a country, a culture or people. Whether clothing, artistic, musical, decorative, aesthetic, etc. It is very dynamic.
Besides, fashion does not escape the magic of social networks, especially since the photo appears to be the vector of the notoriety of artistic creation. Technological innovation is another great factor in the development and growth of fashion.
Can fashion be truly sustainable? This is a question that the guests of the conference “Recycle fashion” of the annual Anthropologies of Fashion seminar tried to answer. It was organized…
